A. Overview
Kedungjati station is located in Grobogan district, Central Java, built in 1868 by private company of Dutch and still operates until now. Kedungjati station was built approximately 6 years after the opening of the railway Semarang to Tanggung where it is the first railway line in Java. In 1860, Willem III, King of Holland, sent a team to conduct research on transportation system in Java. Seeing this opportunity, the experts from the transportation of Nederlandsch Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij (NISM) proposed to the Dutch East Indies colonial government to build a railroad route from Semarang to Yogyakarta through Surakarta.
At that time, the south area of Semarang in desperate need of transportation to transport cash crops such as teak, tobacco, and coconut, to Semarang harbor to be exported to Asia and Europe. Finally, the railroad was built from Semarang through Brumbung, Tanggung, Tempuran, and head south to the Surakarta. This development project was then taken over by NISM and the railroad was shifted through Kedungjati Gundih and required to make road branch to Ambarawa. Led by engineer JP de Bordes, this railway was built on June 17, 1864 and formally used for public transport since July 19, 1868. Initially, Kedungjati Station was built without the platform with wood construction and the main building was built two floors. In 1907, the building was renovated and replaced with brick, stone and used zinc platform.
B. Feature
The main character of Kedungjati Station is on its architecture which similar to Willem I Station (now the Railway Museum) in Ambarawa. The nuance of Dutch building relic is highly visible with white and shade of bricks contained in each section. Although it was quite old, the station still stands firm and keeps operating. In the control room, there are varieties of equipment that is still the old product, manually operated, and still in its function properly. Some of the colonial legacy equipments are, the station clock, bell, lever latch player safety, and old phone that still working.

Kedungjati station is located in Kedungjati village, Central Java, Indonesia.
D. Access
The easiest way to get to the station is to ride Pandanwangi Train that will stop at Kedungjati station. Departing from Yogyakarta, take Prameks Train heading to Balapan Solo Station, then keep to ride Pandanwangi Train in destination Solo-Semarang, and you can simply get off at Station Kedungjati. During the trip, you can enjoy the natural scenery expanse of forest and prairie.
E. Ticket
No special tickets at the station Kedungjati, even the waiting room (peron) can be entered free of charge.
F. Accommodations & Facilities
Some of public facilities in Station Kedungjati are a toilet for visitors. In addition, there are several shops around the station sell food and drink.
