Wates Traditional Market is a market built and managed by the Government of Kulon Progo Regency in cooperation with private agencies. The cooperation is represented by business sites in form of shops, kiosks, sheds, and tents owned/managed by small and medium traders, private business or small scale and small capital cooperatives. All trade processes in this market are by bargaining method.
This traditional market is managed by local government officers, and under the control of Market Municipal Office. The manager of the market is appointed by the Head of Market Municipal Office. Market Municipal Officer determines the target of market retribution annually for every traditional market and is responsible for the fulfillment of the target. The failure of target fulfillment frequently ends up with the firing of the market manager.
