A. Overview

Public spaces which also function as family recreational spots can be found in Sleman Regency. There is one that provides children playground located in the center of Sleman administrative district called Denggung Park.

Denggung Park is 22.400 m², including Denggung Square. The park is developed by the local government through some renovation which was carried out in 2009. It cost the government Rp 668 million for the renovation; Rp 168 million was taken from Sleman Regional Budget Revenue and Expenditure and Rp 500 was taken from the Provincial Budget Revenue and Expenditure.

Through the renovation the government added some facilities to make the park representative as a public space. Some of the already existing facilities were rearranged, such as the ceremony tribune and the access to it. One of the added facilities was the toilet. Also, there was the resorption well around Denggung Square to conserve the water ecosystem for the beauty of Denggung Park and Square. The renovation also included the parking area and the garden. Now, the park is a public space representative for family recreation.

B. Features

Located in the center of Sleman administrative district, Denggung Park is a strategic public space. The park is located at the same place with the soccer field, built deliberately for tourism destination, especially family recreation.

Sleman local government put their best effort to facilitate the use of the public space by developing it into a family recreational space putting forward children playground with free access.

Some of the rides at children playing ground are swings, slides, sphere, and others. There are garbage bins in different shapes such as kangaroo and frog. Such design is interesting for children and encourage them to keep the cleanliness of the park by throwing garbage to the proper place.

Denggung Park is also a resourceful place for people who own rides. They can rent them out for affordable charge. Some of the rented rides are plastic fishing pool, mini train, mini pedicab, and mini car. Take your children to Denggung Park and let them have fun.

C. Location

Denggung Park is located at Kronggahan Orchard, Trihanggo Village, Gamping District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

D. Access

Denggung Park is accessible by private or public transportation. If taking a public transportation visitors can take the Transjogja Route 2A or 2B and get off at Jombor Station. The trip should continue by bus heading for Tempel where visitors must get off at Denggung Square crossroad, marked by the statue of KRT Pringgodiningrat (the first regent of Sleman). After that, visitors can walk westwards as far as 50 meters to the park.

E. Ticket

Visiting Denggung Park is free of charge. Only, everyone is obliged to keep the park clean.

F. Accommodations and Other Facilities

The four main facilities at Denggung Park are the convenience, parking area and chlidren playground. Some of the rides at the playing ground are three swings, three minibikes, two slides, and a merry-go-round. Local artists and bands hold their concert in this park. Denggung Square is also often used for kinds of competitions, aeromodelling is an example. People do sport exercise, especially soccer, here.
