Enjoying the Artworks Being Displayed
Jogja, Jogjatrip.com – The annual event Jogja Art Fair which has changed into Art Jog was officially opened by Oei Hong Djien as the Counselor Board of ART|JOG|10 at Taman Budaya Yogyakarta (TBY), Friday night (7/16). The cultural event which will last from July 16th – 29th exhibits 170 paintings, videos, statues, and unique installations from 158 artists mostly from Yogyakarta and Bandung.
Art Jog 10 is the reincarnation of JAF which had been held twice, in 2008 and 2009 successively. This event always comes up with something new that provokes enthusiasm among young generations. According to Jog|Art|10 Counselor Board Oei Hing Djien, Art Jog was something immense in the current world of fine art in our country as well as the peak for several regular contemporary fine art events.
ART|JOG|10 theme “Indonesian Art Now: The Strategies of Being” aims at sharpening the interpretation of signs in the current practice of fine art in our country as well as an effort accommodating modern breakthroughs in art for future development.
Mr. Bean fans will surely like the works of I Gusti Arya Udianata entitled “Jika Mr. Bean Orang Indonesia” (If Mr. Bean were an Indonesian). This is a painting of Mr. Bean in close-up smile. Mr. Bean’s oblique face is combined with the portrayal of Indonesian archipelago from Sabang to Merauke. Visualization of such pop icons as KISS, Marilyn Monroe, and Beavis from the Beavis and Butthead are also exhibited here.
In addition to the exhibition, ART|JOG|10 is holding a discussion on the artworks exhibited in Jog Art. Taking place at TBY, the discussion will have Eko Nugroho, Yudi Sulistyo and Budi Adi Nugroho as the speakers of commission artist. *** (Andreas Eko Wahyu S)
