Jogja, Jogjatrip.com – A club of 14 photographers called Sebelah Mata (Seeing with One Eye) is holding a photo exhibition entitled Kelangan Alon-alon (Losing Slowly) at Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta (BBY), July 24th-30th 2010. About 100 photos displayed try to look at people’s life and human-object dialog in the evolution of civilization in documentary photography format.
The photos portray cultural change whenever creativity exists. Even an established cultural product will change, either by changing its function, modification, and so on.
Sebelah Mata try to observe stories through their photos, in which Kelangan Alon-alon is a compilation of dialogs between human and cultural products. The exhibition displays documentary photos about the culture that surrounds us, which is slowly fading away. This is expected to be able to enlighten people about the culture they have had and that they have to keep it.
