Jogja, Jogjatrip.com—Dimas and Diajeng (equal to mister and miss) of Jogja 2009 Mega Cahya Nalasukma (22) and Alfatika Aunuriella Dini (21) should be proud to get the opportunity to represent Indonesia in the International Discovery and Exchange in ASIA Project (IDEA Project) 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan, August 1st-8th 2010. Dimas Mega Cahya Nalasukma is in his last semester in the Faculty of Veterinary of Gadjah Mada University and Diajeng Alfatika Aunuriella Dini is in her 6th semester of The Faculty of Law of the same university.
They will be the only ones to represent Indonesia since the other cities in Indonesia claimed not to send their representatives in the annual event. The international Youth’s Cultural Exchange held at National Taiwan University (NTU) will be participated by more than 20 young delegations and college students from many renown universities all over Asia, Europe and America.
For the two delegations from Jogja, the event held by NTU and International Seers Organization (ISO) is a very important media to introduce the culture and tourism of Indonesia in general and Yogyakarta in particular. Not only Yogyakarta culture and tourism, Dimas and Diajeng will also present the educational aspect of Yogyakarta given that Yogyakarta is perceived as one of the centers of education in Indonesia. It is planned that Alfatika will perform Golek Sulung Dayung Dance while Mega will sing Macapat song.
Head of Tourism Board of Yogyakarta Drs. Tazbir, M.Hum. said that the international event is significant to introduce Indonesian, particularly Yogyakarta, culture to the world. The chosen Dimas and Diajeng who will represent Indonesia are believed to have the capability to perform the duty.
“This is certainly something to be proud of, knowing that Dimas and Diajeng are the persons whom I believe able to promote Indonesian and Yogyakarta tourism. Both are the only Indonesian representatives to Taiwan. Thus they are hoped to promote Yogyakarta aside from enjoying other experience, because Taiwan is a potential market for Yogyakarta tourism,” he said in Yogyakarta Tourism Board Office.
Dimas Mega Cahya Nalasukma said that he was proud to represent DIY and Indonesia to the international event. Mega also stated that the General Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia asked them to promote not only Yogyakarta culture but also Raja Ampat’s, Papua.
“We have never visited Raja Ampat indeed, but we will try our best to give general information about it. As for Jogja, we will introduce the culture and bring wooden batik crafts from Bobung, Gunungkidul, to present in front of the international youth representatives,” explained Mega.
Alfatika added that this will be her first international event. She was excited about the cultural issue that will be brought in the event. “Surely Yogyakarta culture will be the main thing that I will present.” ** (Andreas Eko Wahyu S)
